Electric outlets …
AND plumbing !!!
I can’t wait for the best “accessories”, the patrons! (No, seriously, I can’t wait).

With a birds-eye view of the goings on, I have been mesmerized by the manipulation of the the machines on our less-than-ideal site. The guy who drives the cat machine is truly talented, maneuvering it up and down, and sideways. It almost seems like ballet.
When I looked out the window one day, I couldn’t help but think that you might enjoy this shot of it parked in a very unusual way.
Whatever is happening lately involves a strong, deep-throated vibration. A harmonic buzz, if you will. Perhaps we are re-aligning with the universe.
The project undergoes its first inspection.
We have a wonderful view of what’s happening with our project through a picture window as you enter the Library — please excuse the glare.
Our Construction Crew is back and growing… We are seeing more faces, and more equipment is arriving, and the site is changing as well. We also have a new element to add to the project – SOUND. Right now it sounds like a BIG angry, mosquito is buzzing around out there.
We are hoping that the earthquake/hurricane/rain season is behind us, and we have clear sailing for an extended time. (Although as I (half) listened to the Weather report yesterday, I heard that dreaded word “snow”). Not for us, but I don’t even want to think about snow yet.
I think the trade refers to this more technically as framing for footings, but I just call it progress.
And the “Cat” machine is back doing it’s thing. I love to watch it maneuver around the site, and since some of you shared that you did also, I took a short video for you.
Open wide……..
Cleaning up the area before the actual building starts provided great entertainment to many who stopped by our upstairs window. It provided the best view in the house, and we all watched as the “Caterpillar Guy” deftly chomped trees and moved them around the site to wherever he needed to place them. This may be considered heavy work, but he handled that equipment with great dexterity, and it was a pleasure to watch.
Changes are happening that will allow the actual construction to start. Mostly, to the library parking lot. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN. The upper part of the parking lot, where you would normally enter, will be fenced off and part of the construction area. This area will house their trailer, and all of their trucks and equipment. (You can see it beginning in the background).
Please be aware of these changes:
You probably cannot read that (pix at left), but it says TWO WAY TRAFFIC. It was a beautiful sunny day outside, wreaking havoc on our picture taking, but wonderful for “inspecting” what’s going on.
Please park in the Library’s lower lot until it fills up and then OVERFLOW” into the Imperial Lot across the street.
THANKS, Imperial Music Center!
It was a long time coming, but Library supporters enjoyed picture perfect weather for their Groundbreaking ceremony held on 18 June 2011.

Today’s SENTINEL published an article with some of the details.
South River celebrates start of library project
We put together this resource to share the experience of building our library project with you. The project should take roughly a year, hence the name. We hope that you will visit often to see what is happening with your library project.
ABOVE you can see the exterior of the building with the new space colored in red. Below you will find some more graphics of the new library space.
Off to the right you will find some special links. In our BLOGROLL, you will see links for the principal players.
In our Flickr feed, you will see all the photos that we tagged “library expansion”.
You can subscribe to this blog’s posts via it’s RSS feed, which you will also find off to the right.
